This explains what data Keepta holds, why, and your rights over it.
Who is responsible for your data
Keepta is the data controller for your Keepta account information. For the records you enter about your own shop, such as your products, customers and their phone numbers, you are the controller and Keepta acts as your processor, handling that data on your behalf and only to run the service for you.
What we collect
- Account details: your business and branch names, owner name, email, optional phone, and username.
- Your password, which is stored in a scrambled (hashed) form we cannot read.
- The shop data you record in Keepta: stock, sales, part-payments, customers and staff you add.
- Payment details are handled by Paystack. We never see or store your card number.
- Basic technical logs needed to keep the service secure and working.
Why we use it
To create and run your account, take payment, provide support, keep the service secure, and meet record-keeping duties the law places on us. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Our lawful basis
Under the NDPA, we rely mainly on performing our contract with you (running the service you paid for) and on meeting our legal obligations (such as tax and record-keeping rules).
Who we share it with
Only where needed to run the service: our payment provider (Paystack), the infrastructure providers that host and back up the service, and public authorities where the law requires it. Anyone who processes data for us is bound to keep it confidential and secure.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account is active. When you close your account, we deactivate it and keep the data, no longer in use, for 12 months (1 year) before it becomes eligible for permanent deletion. We do this because the law can require us to produce business records later. See the account-closure section of our Terms.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you, correct it, or have it deleted, subject to records we are legally required to keep for the retention period above. To exercise any of these, email support@keepta.ng. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Security
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted with HTTPS, and your data is stored in the cloud with backups, not on a single office computer. No online service can promise perfect security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects you.
Cookies
Keepta uses only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. See our Cookies Policy for the detail.
