Your data stays yours

A plain answer to the question every shop owner should ask: what can the people who run Keepta actually see?
The short version
Keepta collects, for itself, only two things: your account details (your name, email, optional phone and username) and your store details (your business and branch names). That is all.
Everything you record while running your shop (your products, suppliers, customers, staff, sales, part-payments, profit and stock) is your data, not ours. Keepta only stores and processes it on your behalf so the app works for you. We do not browse it, mine it, sell it, or use it for any purpose of our own.
Who owns what
In data-protection terms, there are two roles. For your account and store details, Keepta is the controller. For your shop's own records, such as your suppliers, customers, products and transactions, you are the controller and Keepta is only your processor. That data belongs to your business. We hold it in custody and act on it only to run the service you pay for.
Can Keepta staff see my shop's data?
No. There is no screen, report, or admin page anywhere in Keepta that lets our team open up a store and read its customers, suppliers, products, sales, profit, or staff. Our internal admin tools expose only account and billing information, the details above, and nothing a store records in day-to-day use.
The app is also walled off store-by-store at the technical level: every request is locked to the signed-in owner's own store, so one store can never load another store's data, and neither can we through the normal product.
Being honest about the limits
We will not pretend to be something we are not. Keepta is cloud software, so your records are stored on secure servers that we operate in order to back them up, keep the service running, and restore your data if something fails. Like every hosted service you already rely on, such as your bank's app, your email, or your payment provider, this means the data physically lives on infrastructure we maintain.
What we promise is a commitment and a design: we do not access your shop records, we build no tools to browse them, and we would only ever touch your data where you ask us to (for example, support you request) or where the law compels us. Anyone who claims a hosted service makes their own access "mathematically impossible" while still giving you reports and dashboards is not being straight with you.
If you want your data in your own database
For owners who want to go further than a promise about custody, Keepta offers a tier where your shop's data lives in a Postgres database that belongs to you, in your own hosting account, instead of our shared database. We still run the app for you and connect to your database to serve your shop. We keep no copy, you can take your own backups, and you can rotate the credentials or revoke our access at any time.
To be straight with you: while we are connected to serve your shop, our software can read your data, exactly as any managed provider's can. What changes is custody, which is what the question is really about. The data sits in a database you own and can cut us off from, and if you ever leave you keep it and we hold nothing. See Your own database for how it works.
We never sell your data
Keepta does not sell, rent, or trade your data or your shop's records to anyone, and we do not use them for advertising. We make our money from the setup and maintenance fees you pay, not from your data.
If you ever leave
You can export your records while your account is active, and you can close your account at any time. When you close it, your data is deactivated and held, unused, before it becomes eligible for permanent deletion. See the account-closure section of our Terms. The detail of what we collect and your rights over it is in our Privacy Policy.
