Your own database
LAST UPDATED · 07 OCTOBER 2026
Keepta, but with your shop's data in a database that belongs to you. We run the app for you; your records live in your own database, not on our shared platform.
What it is
A setup where your store's entire dataset (your products, suppliers, customers, staff, sales and everything else) lives in a Postgres database inside your own hosting account, separate from the shared Keepta platform and from every other shop. Keepta still runs the app for you on our own infrastructure and connects to your database to serve your shop. Your team signs in at your own web address and uses it exactly like the hosted version.
Your data lives in a database you own
The database belongs to you. Your records are not stored on the shared Keepta platform or alongside any other business, and we keep no copy of them in our own system. Because the connection is to your database, you can take your own backups, and you can rotate the credentials or revoke our access whenever you choose. This is the option for owners who want their data to physically reside somewhere they control. For the full picture of who can access what, read Your data.
What Keepta manages for you
You are not left to run anything technical. We run the app on our platform, keep it secured, updated and monitored, and connect it to your database. We also create the accounts and manage your renewals and the activation of new branches. Your owner and staff simply log in and use it the same way they would use the hosted version. There is nothing for your team to operate.
What you provide
A Postgres database in a hosting account that belongs to you. We recommend a managed Postgres such as Railway, Neon or Supabase, so there is no server to run: the provider looks after the database itself. The provider bills that account directly to you. You send us the connection details once and we set your store up inside it. That is the only infrastructure that sits with you; what that entails is set out below.
What self-hosting your database means
Because the database is yours, some responsibilities come with it. We set everything up and guide you through it, but it is worth understanding what you are taking on before you choose this option.
- It is your database. You own it and the data in it, and you are responsible for keeping it running and for whatever fees your hosting provider charges.
- Let Keepta be the only thing that writes to it. The app is built to manage your data. Editing records, adding branches, or changing tables directly in the database can break your shop inside the app and corrupt your reports, and anything done that way is not covered by support. Every change should go through Keepta.
- Backups are yours to keep. We recommend a regular backup, which your provider can automate. If the database is deleted or your hosting account lapses, the data is gone, and because we keep no copy of it we cannot recover it for you.
- Keep it reachable. If your database goes offline, or its credentials change without telling us, your shop will stop working until it is restored.
- Choose a nearby region. Hosting the database close to your shop keeps the app fast.
What it costs
This is our premium, fully managed tier, and it is priced that way. The one-time setup fee per branch is higher than the standard plan, because each store is provisioned and security-reviewed by hand. Yearly maintenance is charged at a premium to the standard plan, reflecting the dedicated database, isolated monitoring and hands-on support this tier involves. Your hosting provider's own fees are separate and billed directly to you. Extra branches are added by arrangement: you let us know, you pay for the branch, and we activate it. Contact us for a quote tailored to your shop.
Request your own database
This is set up by hand with you, not instantly. Send us your details below to start. There is no payment at this stage: we review your request, talk through what you need, agree a quote, and email you a secure link to pay. Once that clears we provision your store inside your database and email your login.
This starts a conversation — no payment yet. We review your request, agree a quote with you, and email a secure link to pay. Your database stays yours; you can read how your data is handled on the Your data page.

The honest detail
We run the app and connect to your database with the credentials you give us, so while that connection is open our software can read your data in order to run your shop. What is different from the shared plan is custody: your data lives in a database you own and can revoke, not in ours, and we keep no copy. We do not browse your records and we build no tools to do so. We are not claiming it is technically impossible for us to reach your data while we are serving your shop, any more than any managed provider could. If that distinction matters to you, our Your data page explains it in full.
